Satyamev Jayate – Television show by Aamir khan on sensitive issues

Satyamev Jayate, a reality show hosted by the famous Indian actor Amir Khan. The Litrel meaning of Satyamev Jayate is Truth alone prevails; the show brings and discusses social issues that are becoming havoc for the people living in Indian society. The show was first premiered on May 6th 2012 and is dubbed in many Indian languages so that people understand and enjoy watching it these languages are Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi and Bengali.

This show is being broadcasted on the star network i.e. Star World, Star Utsav, Star Vijay, Star Kannada and Star paravah and also on other Indian channels like DD National and Eenadu TV.

As the show caters the social issues of the mankind, its first episode was shooted in the interior villages of India to make sure that people will watch the show.

The main aim of the show is to bring change in the society by resolving the social issues. The first episode of shoe mainly focused on the issue of female foeticide in India, no one ever paid attention to this sensitive issue, but Amir Khan came forward and brought a sensitive issue to the lime light. They presented the accurate figures and facts related to female foeticide.  The 90 minutes show included such shocking stories about female foeticide that those stories were eye opener for everyone. The episode had a great impact on the government of India, it was urged that legal actions should be taken by the government to stop this shameful act and let the ladies give birth to the daughters happily because daughters are precious.

Viewers’ response rate:

The show was liked and appreciated by the viewers to such an extent that its official sites crashed twice due to the viewers’ traffic. The shoe received 42,000 likes on the facebook and about 3,800 tweets on twitter the day it was premiered. More than one lakh people tried calling in to talk to Amir Khan and discuss the issues, people left emotional messages on video sharing sites such as YouTube. According to Hindustan Times, local newspaper 90% people agreed that they liked the show.

The show was greatly preferred over the other reality shows such as Dus ka Dam, Koun Banayga Crorepati while comparing them. The show was compared with the famous show “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. This show has created a very positive response around the country including the TV personalities the NRI’s and common men. Everyone complimented Amir Khan for his efforts to bring up such issues.

The show is being sponsored by Airtel, a telecommunication company working in India and co sponsored by Aqua Guard. Many other sponsors include Coco Cola, Axis Bank, Berger, Skoda Autos and Johnson & Johnson. Airtel has paid 16 crore rupees ( US$ 3.19 million ).

Amir Khan has promised to bring 13 such kind of issues to the limelight which will expose society’s wrongdoings and illegal acts. Amir Khan certainly has to follow the tough act but he has the potential and courage of doing such acts. The show is expected to resolve these issues and bring a change in the society.
